The number of COVID-19 patients in Pakistan has risen to 2,689 on early Saturday after new infections confirmed in the country in last 24 hours.
The national dashboard, managed by federal health ministry, the infected tally in Punjab jumped to 1,069, the highest number so far, while the confirmed tally in Sindh stood at 830, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa infected cases climbed to 343, in Balochistan 175 cases reported, Islamabad Capital Territory covid cases mounted to 68, Gilgit-Baltistan at 193, while 11 cases were reported in AJK. Moreover, 40 deaths were confirmed in the country so far, 11 deaths reported in Punjab, 14 in Sindh, 11 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, three in Gilgit-Baltistan while one death was reported in Balochistan. The provincial administration on Wednesday said in a post on Twitter, "The 1,000-bed hospital was setup in nine days". "This hospital will cater exclusively to coronavirus patients. Chief Minister Punjab Usman Budar will visit the hospital today," the post read. The province had been placed under lockdown earlier this month to control the coronavirus spread. According to Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab, "Another 3 patients have recovered & their corona virus test has come negative. Now the total number of recovered patients in Sindh stand at 54," he said on Wednesday. "People should learn that isolation or social distancing is the only cure to corona virus," he added. According to details, 63 people who returned from Iran have been shifted to Faisalabad quarantine center amid tight security. Heavy contingents of Pakistan Army and police have been deployed in the area. On the other hand, the Pakistanis who were stranded in Bangkok from March 21 have also arrived in the county.
